Retouching for Headshot and Portrait Photography

WHY RETOUCH

About Photo Retouching

Shooting images with state of the art professional camera’s and ultra sharp lenses guarantees you will see every bit of detail in a headshot or portrait. This is a good thing for details we want a casting director to see but not so great if, on the day of our shoot, through no fault of your own you are tired or have just broken out into a few spots. We all lead extremely busy lives and we often shoot clients with dark patches under their eyes, temporary spots or uneven skin tone brought on through wind or working outdoors.

Here is some examples of images before and after retouching

Skin Retouching

When retouching skin there’s a fine line between lustrous smoothness and the dreaded plastic look. An overly airbrushed image makes subjects appear more like children’s dolls than real people, and robs them of their humanity and charisma. With our photo retouching service  we simply work towards getting a person to look the best they can be in the real world, and not like Barbie.

Converting your Headshots to Black and White

Since the days of film, black and white photography has always required some additional post production otherwise they just look grey, flat and uninspiring. This work was often done in a dark room and required the photography to lighten and darken parts of the picture using a technique called dodging and burning. With digital photography and photographers this step is often missed and this is why the internet is full of black and white photography that is flat (non 3 dimensional) and lifeless. The before and after image highlights this point visually
